Solon Manufacturing Company is seeking a superstar Business Development Manager with a self-starter attitude, a desire to succeed and exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
Reporting directly to our Manager, Sales & Business Development, this person will be responsible for supporting department-related sales activities with a focus on developing new business opportunities.
A Business Development Manager for Solon Manufacturing Company will play an important role on our sales team, working collaboratively with marketing and product management. This position is responsible for generating sales across product lines. Successful candidates will have 3-5 years of industrial manufacturing sales experience. However, attitude, passion and positivity trumps skill set. Your attitude determines most of what you experience each day. Are you someone who chooses every day to have a positive attitude? WHO YOU ARE: You live in the local Cleveland, OH market as this position does not provide for relocation. You sell solutions and are both comfortable and experienced in a manufacturing environment. The savvy Business Development Manager will use consultative sales techniques and skills to increase sales with existing customers and support business development initiatives to establish new customer accounts. You appreciate what we do and who we serve. You pay attention to trends and developments in relevant markets and industries. You forge sincere relationships and understand the value in doing so.

WHAT WE WILL ASK OF YOU: You will champion our outside sales efforts by using marketing materials including product catalogs, sales presentations and brochures. Ideal candidates will want to understand our company, the history behind our company, our products, our competition, and most importantly, our customers. You will be a part of a small but mighty sales team that works closely with Marketing, Product Management and Inside Sales to help Solon Manufacturing continuously develop and grow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES – RESPONSIBILITIES - EXPERIENCE
- Travel required (30%)
- High School Diploma/GED, required
- A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
- Must have a strong working knowledge of ERP, CRM (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Professional Plus·
- Build and maintain excellent relationship with colleagues and customers (via sales outreach , field meetings, trade shows, and follow up)
- Develop and maintain corporate relationships for key/target customers
- Develop pipeline from lead activity through conversion
- Self-starter with the ability to influence others
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Creative problem solver and decision maker
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on persuasion and presentation
